“A Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant” is paid when an insured person gives birth. “A Dependents' Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant” is paid when a dependent family member gives birth. Don't forget to add the newborn as a dependent in these cases.
Request a Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant
When using the system of direct payment of Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant to medical institutions
Submit the documents on agreement to use the system to the medical care institution or other facility where you plan to give birth. (You need not take any action with respect to the Health Insurance Society. For details, check with the medical care institution or other facility where you plan to give birth.)

| Notes: | If the childbirth costs are less than the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant payment amount (*), the difference will be paid. It is not necessary to apply for the payment of this difference. We will confirm the details based on the claim from the medical care institution and then transfer the amount to the benefit deposit account registered with the Society at a later date. Please log in to the Society's website in advance to register your account information. * Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant payment amount: 500,000 yen (The amount is 488,000 yen in the case of childbirth at a medical care institution, etc. that is not a member of the maternity medical care compensation scheme or delivery with a gestational age of less than 22 weeks.) |

If you would like to use the system of receipt of the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant directly by the medical institutions on your behalf, submit the following application to the Health Insurance Society in advance.

If you paid the entire amount of childbirth expenses to the medical care institution
Submit the following application to the Health Insurance Society if you have not used the system of direct payment of Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant to medical institutions or the system of receipt of the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant directly by the medical institutions on your behalf or you have given birth overseas.
